White Petals

White petals tumble to the ground where we lay,
we laugh and you turn to face me.
They fall on our faces,
our bodies, our hair,
our fingers interlock and oh,
I’ve never felt like this before.

Please love me! please love me,
I need this so badly.
A distraught dream of you with someone else,
I’ve attended your deathbed inside my head.
And I love you I love you I love you –
this obsession is taking over.

In a glittering whirlpool of flesh and naked limbs,
you draw me under and press your lips to mine.
Ethereal and delicate, I want this forever –
I want you forever.
You can tear me apart if you build me back up.
I’ll let you do anything.

And I love you I love you I love you.
Like the buzzing in the flowers and the daisy chains draped around us,
time will never end in these moments,
they will hang in space and linger and remain –
even when you and I wilt and fade, we will always exist here.
White petals float around us and oh,
as they twirl in the moonlight,
I’ve never felt like this before.
